One year Today since I started……..

…..running or training for a run, properly.

By that I mean I recorded my running, bought some proper training shoes and stuck to a training schedule (in the main).

Back then I was 14 stone in weight and 41 inches circumference arounfd the belly button. I am now 13 St 5lb and 38″ circ. Apart from that my general health and fitness feels great. Rock ‘n’ roll I shall celebrate with a run this evening.

Ran 4.4  miles in about 10’06/mile. Felt good to be running again after a brief rest.

Here are a few clips and images from my running activities in the last 12 months.

ZOHO – Online Applications

Zoho – work – online

Zoho offers a wide range of online applications – well worth a look: http://www.zoho.com/index.html

They are free for individuals and charge for organisations. They cover all of the MS Office alternatives and many more. A useful feature is the ability to sign in with another account: e.g. Google, Yahoo, Fb and so on. Neat!

ASKe

Assessment Standards Knowledge exchange (ASKe) – is the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning based at Oxford Brookes University Business School. It was set up in summer 2005 with a £4.5 million award (spread over five years) from HEFCE in recognition of good practice based on pedagogic research into aspects of assessment carried out by staff in the Business School and the Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development.

ASKe runs a series of seminars and workshops that staff can attend. They are delivered and organised in a variety of ways – all information can be browsed on their website: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/aske/

Wordle.net

wordle_addressWordle.net is a tool for generating word clouds from text that you submit to it. You can do this via a RSS feed or select text and paste it into a text box on their site. It then generates a word cloud, with the highest repeated words displayed in larger text. You can alter the images that are produced by altering the font, layout and colours.

I’ve seen this used at conferences and during presentations. It gives a useful snapshot for activities like gathering feedback, responses and online discussions.

In true Blue Peter style here is one I created today from the WP blog feed.

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to Ashley’s Online Journal (AOJ). Like many who use WordPress and other blogging tools I’ve dabbled with them before and eventually lapsed.

This time I’ll be posting articles, snippets and other things I come across on the web, in the hope that this will assist others who work in a similar field to me. My primary role at work is to create and deliver staff training sessions (aka interventions) in the e-Learning area.

All of the views expressed on AOJ are my own.

I hope that some of this will be of use to you and your colleagues. Please let me know by leaving a comment or two along the way.
